About Nicole Hunn

Hi, I’m Nicole. I create gluten free recipes that really work and taste as good as you remember. No more making separate meals when someone is GF, or buying packaged foods that aren’t good enough to justify the price. At Gluten Free on a Shoestring, “good, for gluten free” just isn’t good enough!

I have made these cookies many times. They are our favorite! I came back to the recipe today and I can’t access it. I’m so disappointed

    1. Nicole Hunn says:

Joni, it’s accessible to Ad-free members. I also see that you’ve been on my free newsletter list for nearly a decade and you’ve gotten a lot of free content. I’d hope you could understand that it’s very expensive and a ton of work to run a food website, and give me some grace for needing to profit from my hard work.

Thanks for this precise recipe – I followed it carefully (not always my pattern :) ) and made them larger and into ice cream sandwiches for our Easter treat! OMG they were amazing! the perfect chocolate chip cookie, and HaagenDaz in the middle was pretty fabulous too!
will make them again for sure!

    1. Nicole Hunn says:

I appreciate your following the recipe carefully, Verilee. I think it’s really important to do that at least the first time, then you can freelance since you know what the standard is. Thanks for sharing your experience with these cookies!

Batter comes together much faster than my other GF chocolate chip recipes. These are perfect – thank you!

      You’re so welcome, Emily!

omg yum. i can’t do these in batches because i eat all the dough while the first lot are in the oven ?
i’ve also made them plain (no chocolate) and currently have a macadamia and white choc chip batch in the oven.
my wife (non-gf) loves them too and usually hates the texture of gf baked goods. this recipe is so good!!

    1. Nicole Hunn says:

Those sound delicious, Ash! So glad you and your life are enjoying them and all the variations you’re coming up with.

These are hands down the best Chocolate Chip cookies I have ever made. Easy to follow instructions. I have been making GF for my celiac daughter for years now and it is such a struggle to find good GF recipes. Thank you for this recipe. You made our holidays tastier!!

    1. Nicole Hunn says:

You’re so welcome, Barbara, and I’m so happy to have been able to help. Thank you for sharing your experience.

What is the great difference between Better Batter and Cup4Cup flour blends. I find Cup4Cup in most groceries in my area but have never found better batter except on line.

    1. Nicole Hunn says:

The ingredients are quite different, Johnnie. Please see a detailed discussion of all the blends I recommend for and against on the all purpose gluten free flour blends page that is linked in this and every recipe that calls for one.

  8. Anne says:

What do you think about using an almond flour? I like the nutty flavor it brings to cookies.

    1. Nicole Hunn says:

That won’t work, no, Anne. Almond flour is not an appropriate substitute for an all purpose gluten free flour blend. If you’d like to make a cookie with almond flour, you’ll need a recipe developed specifically for it.
